Suitable also for connecting appliances that are supposed to work only when the engine is running while charging, e.g. 12V refrigerator in a caravan.
Balancer allows to correct unbalance of batteries connected in series and to adjust charging with respect to the current state of individual batteries.
Primarily designed for 24V system with two 12V batteries in series.
Battery balancers can also be arranged in parallel for more complex systems.
For a 48V system, a total of three balancers are used (see diagrams).
Green LED: the device is active and the measured voltage is greater than 27.3V.
Upper orange LED: voltage deviation is greater than 0.1V.
Lower orange LED: voltage deviation is greater than 0.1V.
Red LED: alarm triggered if the difference between the monitored batteries is greater than 0.2V.
Alarm persists until the difference is less than 0.14V or the system voltage drops to less than 26.6V.
Meaning of the alarm relay: in the standard state it is open (inactive).
It is closed (activated) when the red LED is on, i.e. when the voltage difference between the batteries is higher than 0.2 V.
Once the red LED goes off, the relay is opened (deactivated) again (the voltage difference between the batteries is less than 0.14 V).
Disabling of the alarm is achieved by interconnecting the outputs marked RESET.
This can be done using a switch.
Input voltage range: up to 18V per battery, 36V total.
Balancer activation voltage level: 27.3V ± 1%.
Voltage level for deactivation of the balancer: 26.6V ± 1%.
Power consumption in deactivated state: 0.7mA.
Power consumption in activated state: 50mV.
Maximum balancing current: 0.7A at a deviation of 100mV or more.
